Duyantang Fm

Period:
Neoproterozoic

Age Interval:
late-Early Qingbaikouan (early-middle Tonian), Qb (52, 53, 56)

Province:
Guizhou

Type Locality and Naming

East Guizhou. The Duyantang Fm (uppermost formation unit of the Fanjingshan Gr) was named by the Party of Regional Geological Survey, Guizhou Bureau of Geology in 1974. The type section is in Duyantang, Waxi Township, Jiangkou County, Guizhou Province. Uppermost formation in the Fanjingshan Gr.

Synonym:

Lithology and Thickness

The Duyantang Fm is dominated by light grey to grey-green medium- to thick-bedded blasto-psammitic greywacke, intercalated with blasto-sandstone, siltstone and thin-bedded sericite slate and silty slate. The ripple marks are seen occasionally. The maximum exposed thickness of this formation is recorded as 784 m.

Lithology Pattern:
Clayey sandstone

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The formation is in conformable contact with underlying the Waxi Fm of the Fangjingshan Gr

Upper contact

It is unconformably overlain by the Hongzixi Fm of the Banxi Gr, or the Jialu Fm of the Xiajiang Gr

Regional extent

East Guizhou. But it is exposed only in east sector of Fanjing Mt.
